For 2013, Friends had to change a few things about the program to help GENESEE CO ANIMALS
What are Rescue Partners?
Genesee Co. Animal Control allows "Shelter to Shelter" transfers for animals in their care but the receiving rescue/shelter must be licensed with the MI Dept of Ag as an Animal Shelter.
Because "Foster based" rescues rarely meet the qualifications for that type of licensing, most/all foster based rescues must pay full price for any animal they rescue from GCAC, even ones deemed unadoptable or are in danger of euthanasia.
Since it's beginning, in 2007, Friends has strived to develop a list of qualified, capable rescues to work with by helping to cover some/all of the fees charged by Genesee Co Animal Control. Through this network of wonderful rescues, Friends has helped save thousands of animals.
We do have a set of guidelines required of rescues to ensure that we are not helping to send an animal to a dangerous situation.
Just a few of the animals we were lucky to be able to help get to rescue AND have photos of!
Friends relies on donations to continue the effort to be the bridge from Animal Control to Rescue and we are committed to helping as many animals as funds allow.
